A Classic Leicester Morris Christmas Mumming!
Well, the dust has settled on another successful Christmas Mumming Tour! As always, we were delighted by the warm reception from the good folks of Leicester.
Our intrepid band of dancers and characters braved the mid-December chill, taking our traditional play of Saint George and the Dragon to a variety of venues across the city. We kicked off the day with a well-received performance in the bustling Market Place, where our clash of swords and slightly chaotic characters soon drew a substantial (and appreciative) crowd.
Following a quick warming pint and a pasty, we were on the move again. Performances at some of our favourite local pubs, including The Criterion and The Globe, were met with roars of laughter and enthusiastic applause. It was a wonderful sight to see the pubs packed, with people from all ages enjoying the simple joy of our annual performance.
Of course, no Mumming Tour would be complete without our famous (and infamous) collection. Thanks to your staggering generosity, we raised a fantastic £580 for our chosen charity, [Insert local Leicester charity name, e.g., LOROS]. This incredible amount will make a genuine difference to their vital work in the community, and we can't thank you enough.
We’d like to extend our thanks to the landlords and staff of all the venues that hosted us. A special mention also goes to the long-suffering friends and family who acted as drivers, collectors, and suppliers of hot drinks!
Now, the drums and whistles are packed away, but we’re already looking ahead to the start of our main season in the Spring. If you’re interested in joining Leicester Morris, whether as a dancer, musician, or character, please don't hesitate to get in touch. We’re always on the lookout for enthusiastic new members!
Here’s to another fantastic year of Morris and making memories. See you all in the Spring!
