May Day

Join us for a truly magical start to the season as Leicester Morris welcome you to our traditional May Day celebrations! For nearly 50 years we have climbed to the top of Bradgate Park, by Old John, to Welcome in May. A breath-taking setting, and some years you can even see the view across the city, hat perfectly complements the joy and tradition of early May morning.

Mark your calendars for Friday, May 1st, 2026, where you can find us dancing bright and early from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM. Imagine the rising sun, the fresh morning air, and the joyful clash of sticks and jingle of bells echoing across the park – it's an experience not to be missed! Come and immerse yourself in this wonderful tradition, enjoy the lively music, and perhaps even feel inspired to discover the world of Morris dancing for yourself.
